Meanwhile, my iPod has completely frozen. Can't turn it off, can't make it do anything. Even the backlight has stayed on. This has been going on for about 3 hours. Any ideas?

Yay for being completely mobil.

Concerning iPod: Have you tried to reboot it via simultanious pressing MENU and Select button for several second, then the black apple screen should appear. If that's not working, let the battery discharge completely.

We have a winner re: holding the two buttons down. Though I had to be schooled by a little kid working in the Apple store to learn that. *feels amazingly dumb*

My argument when I had to look it up on the apple webpage: My iPod worked so good until then, I would have forgotten this trick again anyway. ;)

That has happened a few times with my ipod, the only thing I've been able to do is wait for the battery to die and then recharge it. So, in other words...nothing:/
