I might be AWOL for a month?

I am seriously considering joining NaNoWriMo this year. I have never done it before, but I've had an idea for a novel simmering for two years. I feel that if I don't write it out now, I never will and it'll go to that place where all novel ideas die. It's gonna be like this:
If you're not familiar, NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing Month, wherein participants try to complete a novel (50,000 words) in the month of November. That's 30 days of trying not to procrastinate and actually getting shit done. I don't expect it to be great in the end, but at least it will be finished.
Here's the problem. If I do this, I will not be able to write any fanfics. All my spare time will be dedicated to reaching my word count. I wrote up a little calendar, and it's doable, but there's no way to balance this with other writing projects. On a good day I can write 2000 words no problem. On a bad day I get nothing. On a crazy day, like the day I wrote that three-way House fic, I can write over 6000, but hopefully it won't come to that.
I figure, since the only reason I wrote fanfic is for y'all, you should have some say in whether I go through with this or not. I mean, not that I think you'll commit seppaku if you have to go 30 days without a new story about Bertie smooching Jeeves or House doing something silly and evil. I'm not saying I'm that awesome! I just...*toe shuffle*...wanna make sure I don't disappoint anyone if I do this?
Whatever! Just tell me what you think.
