8821 / 50000 words. 18% done!

Good news: I am have WAY more prompts to write about then days I need to write. If I just stick with it and pace myself, I should hit 50,000 on time!

Oh, also? I just wanna share, when I next see a taping of the Daily Show in late January, SOMEONE will have taken an oath of office. And here's a hint: he's not an old white dude.

It's the little things, one at a time, that will keep us going, right?

N'awww.

I saw some adorable icons made by someone on friendsfriends - Jon Stewart grinning at the NY Post from 11/5 with the "MR. PRESIDENT" headline.

Eat it, Post! Oh my goodness, what an awful excuse for a newspaper.

Meanwhile, the NYT staff was about to have a geeky heart attack when they realized their edition needed to go into reprint. I'm torn; on one hand, I believe print is dead. On the other hand, you can't deny that people like having that physical artifact from history. But are kids really gonna pay attention in 20 years when we pull out a dusty old box with a Nov. 5 NYT in it?

They'll be seeing Obama's face on the dollar bill by that point, anyway. :)

(PUT THAT MAN'S FACE ON SOME MONEY, STAT.)

Also, is it my imagination, or is British John tearing up at the end of the election show?

Trufax.

Oh, it's sentimental value, sometimes you just can't put a price on that.

But yes, that was kind of wtf-inducing. (I got a copy of "Metro", which is fiiine by me.) NY1 was interviewing a bunch of people waiting in line at the Hudson News in Grand Central for a NYT. One of them was buying four to send back to friends-and-relations in Italy. Wut.

I hope he gets on some currency, fer shur! (That geeky grin on a dollar coin, facing off against Washington's Gilbert Stuart scowl... *dreams*)

British John? *is clueless*

John Oliver on the Daily Show. The clip I added to this here post shows their silly little end-of-election gag, and then they all stand on the stage to say good night, and it looks like Oliver is honestly choked up. But Jon-Jon is just grinning cheekily throughout.

Is it bad I forwent Wolf Blitzer (Who's name I can't say without a german accent thanks to the daily show) entirely and Comedy Central was my election headquarters all night on the 4th?

I adore Stephen just calmly strapping himself into his "I am withdrawing from the world now" gear. Makes me wonder what he would've done if McCain won. Not that I wanna think about a world where McCain is president. But LOOOORD, the glaoting he wouls've done over John. XD

I don't have cable, but I would have made the same decision as you.

I think it was very smart how they set up the final bit. Obviously it was filmed in advance and the angle wasn't dependent on Obama winning, but the Stephen goggle joke was, so it makes me happy that they sort of knew how it was going to go.
