I was really bored this morning, so I called my mom, but she suggested I just let her get back to watching TV. I said I wanted motivation to go outside and do something with my life and she said maybe I should just stick to what I do best.

Well, eff her, I thought, Imma go for a walk in the effing park!

So I went outside to stand at the bus stop with a group of the old folks that were getting out of church--and we saw a cat get run over in the street.

I mean, not just like *tap* cat got hit by the car; like BAM, the cat is writhing and screaming and everyone's averting their eyes and leading their grandmas away from the horrible scene of tragedy. So the cat's dying in the road, and cars keep almost hitting it, and it's still breathing sort of and I'm thinking, dude, if someone doesn't do something, this thing is going to be splatter from here to Thompkins park.

So I took off my windbreaker and went out into the street and wrapped the cat up. It totally died, by the way. Like, hard.

So an old lady is like, "Well, now what you gonna do with it, genius?" And I'm all I DUNNO. She keeps asking, "Well, is it dead?" And I'm like, yeah, it's pretty dead. I'm wondering what the fuck to do with it. I think about calling 311 to come pick it up, but where the fuck am I supposed to leave it? I can't just put a dead cat on the sidewalk! So the old lady says, why not put it in the trash can? And every bit of southern suburban me is thinking, OH GOD I can't put a cat in a trash can! That's like putting a dead baby in a trash can, right?

But old lady said, well, it's not like you can do anything about it now! It's DEAD. So I put the cat in the trash can. And now my jacket has cat pee all over it. Because I guess things pee when they die?

So eff it. I came home to wash it and decided that maybe today would be an inside day.

I can't take much more of this shit. This is the second stray cat I've seen hit by a car in the last month. It's just so awful, seeing something get hit by a car. Ugh.

I DON'T EVEN LIKE CATS THAT MUCH. HOW COME I HAD TO BE THE ONE TO TRY TO HELP IT?

So I guess I'll read the Stephen Fry in America book I got for Christmas. Oh, and watch the latest I Am Not Infected. And then maybe some DVDs I've been meaning to get to. Write some fic. And stay the fuck indoors.

How awful, I'm so sorry.

I once saw a cat get hit by a car, but it wasn't a stray it was a sleek cat in a suburban street. I was so traumatised I couldn't do anything but my other half started knocking on doors until he found the owner. Who was upset, but glad we had found her & she hadn't had to come outside to find her cat dead in the road.

Mmm, I guess that's a singularly un-comforting story, sorry...

No, I totes deserve that. But I didn't have a "dead cat story" tag, so I wasn't sure how to categorize!

So sorry about the whole cat thing..I once ran over my own kitten...I was so devestated..my Granny had to come and 'clean up' after my horrible accident. I actually called into work and said there had been a death in the family because I was hysterical. Of course everybody at work thought it was my Granny who died. I could have sworn I counted 6 kitties in the cathouse but the littlest one must have come back out...but to have it happen to you twicw in such a short span...i feel for you!

AGH. That's terrible. Poor cat, and poor you too. Time for some hot cocoa with a big shot of whiskey in it, methinks.
