Writing Meme and some other things
Feb. 13th, 2009 01:21 pmHere's a good meme from
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else.

'Hullo, you great big frowning wrinkle,' Dahlia hailed her sister.
"It means I might need to oil the joints on the data feed level. It's just a glitch."
I will forgo the ensuing double act and cut straight to the chase, being where Jeeves said, 'If I might put forth a theory, sir, it appears we have somehow entered into a future time via a dimensional rift.'

Those are the three fics in a permanent state of WIP on my docs page. Maybe I'll take some time to work on one of them today, since I'm working from home and all. Actually, I've completed all the work I have to do today. But it feels weird to stop working when I'm supposed to be working. Which is silly; I'm obviously not working now. I'm obviously dicking around on LJ.
Anyway. What else? Oh, I've decided that tomorrow, I will be my own Valentine. I will treat myself nicely and give myself a few presents. Erm, I've actually already begun with a giant squid/London cab Stephen Fry Tee. ("How did you KNOW, TJ?" "What can I say, TJ? I know what you like.)
But I'll also cook myself a nice dinner and buy a nice bottle of wine and generally just be nice to me for a fucking change. Ain't no one else gonna do it!
OK, I'm going to send a few more e-mails to prove I've done work today and then I'm gonna go to Trader Joe's.

Date: 2009-02-14 02:21 am (UTC)Ho, did that come off anywhere near as creepy as it sounds now that I read it back? Oh, well.
Am single, too. Last girlfriend was over the internet, long-distance, and full of crazy. I think I *like* being single right now, to be honest. Nothing to be ashamed of in the least. (Look at how long Mr. Fry was celibate for! Fangirl theories aside.)
Edit: Douglas Adams-y metaphysical Jooster for the win? Looks promising.

Date: 2009-02-14 02:39 am (UTC)I think single is some people's natural state. And yeah, though I try to console myself with the idea that my celibacy borders on the Fry-like and is therefore too cool for school, the fact is it's very annoying. I keep thinking, I'm 25! Soon I won't be at all firm and tanned. But whatevs! Maybe the whole point is to find someone who likes you once you've become tubby and jiggly?
Anyway, what I mean to say is: thanks. :3

Date: 2009-02-15 09:18 pm (UTC)Seconding that. Relationships scare me. Vicarious relationships? Oh yeah... bring it on! (I'm so not going to spend the afternoon watching The L Word, no no no no no.)
